That's perfect, finding stuff in Dutch that you like so much you WANT to watch it, not just make yourself watch it for practice. I also really really second rachelindeed's suggestion of reading books/stories you already know in your own language – I used to recommend that to my English students in Germany. Also, music! I learned some of my Thai from listening to songs I liked over and over, and poring over the lyrics. Have done that some with Icelandic, too. (A friend of mine is a musician, and I have definitely learned vocab from listening to his songs.) I know Dutch musicians mostly sing in English, but there've got to be some that sing in Dutch. Marco Borsato is the only one I remember – I learned the word "lentesneeuw" because of him. :-)
While in Iceland this time I was able to pick up and read some children's picture books lying around my friend's house – that's about my level...if you count "understanding at most half of it" as a level. ;-)
